UK Allows Ukrainians to Sponsor Children’s Entry Again

As of January 31, the UK government has resumed the “Homes for Ukraine” program. It allows parents or legal guardians with residence permits under Ukrainian schemes to sponsor their children’s entry. Children who are sponsored by their parents or guardians will receive an 18-month residence permit.

From January 31, the UK again allows children to enter the country under Homes for Ukraine if their parents or guardians act as sponsors. Children who arrive through the “Homes for Ukraine” program will have access to education, healthcare, social benefits, and employment in accordance with British law.

Previously, we reported that the UK had banned Ukrainians without permanent residence rights from sponsoring their relatives. This led to people having to bring children to the country even illegally to reunite families.
